I am a passionate ultrarunner and have trained for many years for this event. My wife is Greek and I love Greece. I have loved running all my life. I have participated in many races in preparation for Spartathlon, including trail, road, and track events in Australia. I ran a qualifying distance in March 2022 when I won the Sri Chinmoy 24 Hour track event in Canberra running over 216 km. I also ran 100 miles in 18 hours in 2021, and I have run several 100 km trail races in Australia. I am a member of the Australian Ultra Running Association and the Speedy Geese running club.

 Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, an ancient Athenian long distance runner, who in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, was sent to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians.

Described as the world's most grueling race, the Spartathlon runs over rough tracks and muddy paths, crosses vineyards and olive groves, climbs steep hillsides and, most challenging of all, takes the runners on the 1,200 meter ascent and descent of Mount Parthenio in the dead of night.
