I ran my first marathon in 2003. Once on the long distance, I developed to a "runner-in-nature" which is just passion. The distances and my experience have grown step by step, but Spartathlon has been really far away for me until 2014, when i finished the "TorTour de Ruhr" in Germany, 230k under unbelievable hot weather conditions (unbelievable for Germany ;-). After that i knew that i would be able to finish Spartathlon, too, which i did 2015 for the first time. 2019 then my second finish. Now my third start and i hope my third finish!? I´m looking forward to a great race with so many friendly people and helping hands who are still in my mind from the years 2015 and 2019!

 Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, an ancient Athenian long distance runner, who in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, was sent to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians.

Described as the world's most grueling race, the Spartathlon runs over rough tracks and muddy paths, crosses vineyards and olive groves, climbs steep hillsides and, most challenging of all, takes the runners on the 1,200 meter ascent and descent of Mount Parthenio in the dead of night.
