I ran my first road race in March 2001 for my 30th birthday....our huge local 15k... and never looked back. 38 marathons, 3 Ironmans and 10 ultra marathons later I am still running happy and strong.
I am passionate about distance running on so many levels. It allows me to stay healthy, happy, confident, which spills over into my career, time with family and friends, and in our community. I have used my love of running to give back to many local organizations and share the gift of wellness with others.
When I run I feel free, I can get to know myself and feel comfortable alone in my own skin. I set lofty goals and challenges. I celebrate when I achieve them, but re-assess and keep trying when I fall short.
I am an attorney and member of the Florida Bar. After working as a criminal defense litigator for four years, I decided to find something I really loved. It took many years of trial and error, but after I became a runner I had the confidence to take some risks.
I took a chance as a Realtor, and I absolutely love it. I have been helping my customers buy and sell homes for 13 years now, and feel like I will do this forever. I love the constant challenge and ever changing landscape of the real estate market.
In the past few years my real estate business has grown enough that I have been able to sponsor some worthwhile events and organizations. I have volunteered as a Tri and Running Coach for Team in Training, while my athletes raised money to end blood cancers. I personally have raised over $6000 for that organization.
I have sponsored races that have benefitted the Challenged Athletes Foundation, Children's Running programs in our local schools, and the All Saints Early Learning Center.
For the past three years I have sponsored Marathon High, a program that trains high school students to run a local half marathon while learning lessons in life. This year the program serves over 500 local students, and I have the pleasure to coach at one of our schools for a second year. Watching my students improve as runners and stay committed to this goal has been very rewarding.
I have been playing competitive Duplicate Bridge for 20 years. I have achieved the rank of Silver Life Master, won Regional events, and represented the State of Florida at the national level three times. Bridge helps me exercise my mind and escape the pressures of work at times.
I am very excited to have met the automatic qualification standard for the Spartathlon Race this year at the Daytona 100. I was very disappointed to drop out of the race last year at mile 111, but I learned some great lessons.
I have continued to work on my running, and made adjustments to overcome weaknesses and maximize my potential to finish. I have some unfinished business in Greece, and I plan to finish the race this year!
